RYKER'S PAGE
Ryker was born December 16, 1996. He is one of 3 littermates that we brought back from Ames, Iowa. We called them "The Triplets". Unfortunately, the third Triplet, Jenna, was lost to cancer in May 2005.
When Ryker first came to live with us, he didn't know how to go up and down stairs - this was a concept it took him years to master! He was a little clumsy too, but after he grew up, everything changed. Now he is graceful and can really jump!
Ryker is our lead dog. He is a "Gee-Haw leader". That means he knows the voice commands that tell the lead dog which way to go on the trail. Although it would be nice to be able to take credit for his training, we have to admit that he is a "natural" at it. Nothing makes him more excited than going out on the trail. If we are going out to run, we head towards the barn where we keep the rigs and sled. When we head for the door of the barn he knows where we are - he gets excited and starts barking - and KEEPS ON barking until we take off!
He's basically a big goofy guy, who loves attention, including "tummy rubs". When he comes inside, he's a little crazy - running around like a wild wolf! Once he jumped from the floor OVER the coffee table and onto the couch!
Ryker has been on several vacations. In October 2005 he went with us on a 2 week trip to Niagara Falls and Canada!

So serious!

Backpacking on our farm.

Sometimes he's a dirty, dirty boy!

Ryker likes to barter. He finds something he
thinks you want,
and tries to interest you in trading a treat for it!
In Canada. "Is that a real moose, Dad?"
"Is this really Niagara Falls, Dad?"
